I used to have a lot of trouble spelling the word commitment. I couldn’t figure out the exact number of M’s and T’s. One day, when I had enough, I took out a sheet of paper and wrote the word one hundred times.  It took 5 minutes. I never had trouble spelling commitment again.

Sometimes, the choices we make about our problems: never identifying the issue, never focusing long enough to correct the issue, and never taking specific, measurable action to end the cycle returns us to same place over and over again.

In my case, spelling was a simple fix. Other obstacles in life are much more challenging as many factors can affect your situation.

Stress can be a major deterrent to your best efforts, food choices can affect your energy levels, social and familial relationships can be a drag on personal growth.

The issues continue, learning gaps create roadblocks to personal growth, exercise and leisure time also factor into the mixed bag of obstacles that may prevent you from creating your best life.

No matter the problems or obstacles, our power is choice.

Choose to see the bigger vision.  Know you have the ultimate power to solve your problems.

Everything changes when you clear the clutter, welcome the obstacles, and learn to surmount each challenge issue by issue.

Micro-Moments

There is a list of things that get in the way of our ability to focus. Whether it’s a ringing phone, our obsession with social media, or our habit of gaming every 10 minutes.

There is usually an obstacle that we place in our way before diving into our work.

Consider how these micro-moments take time away from your bigger goals. Work to minimize them. Edit your time and maximize your potential for new opportunities by gaining time from distractions.

Allocate your new micro-moments to maximize your overall growth potential. You will discover you had a lot more time than you thought when you reclaim your focus and get in the zone faster and without limitations.

The Enemy

The challenge is not your enemy.

Often, we avoid difficult situations because we wish to avoid feelings of insecurity and uncertainty.

We firmly place ourselves in the throws of comfort which makes each day easier and easier.

I remember the times when I stopped exercising and placed a hiatus on achieving greater and greater goals. I was avoiding my greatest challenge and choosing lesser passions for safety, comfort, and assured direction.

This was the enemy. Choosing less, choosing comfort, choosing the moderate difficulty setting. Don’t quit your day job or spontaneously retreat to a remote cabin.

Challenge yourself. Raise the stakes of your workouts. Get back into the gym or develop a personal workout routine. Study yoga and deepen your experience by truly seeking enlightenment with your practice. Get that business going and offer so much value you hit the Forbes list in a few years. Work on that bestseller and don’t quit until the manuscript is ready.

The day is yours. Hit the the ground running. Transcending the challenge is the reward.

Ultimate Rewards

Trust is what you build with daily work. When you follow-through on your mission and when you discover that the reward is sticking to your plan.

The difficult part, starting, starting over, or rededicating to your purpose usually takes three weeks to settle into. Likewise, it takes three weeks to break or fail at a new habit.

Avoiding the pitfalls of self-destruction and taking on the moniker of your purpose has probably always been your big dream.

To remain focused, deconstruct your vision. Remember the parts make the whole and the little steps make progress manageable.
